Company Background

Custom Engineering was founded in 1974 and is currently owned by Clarence Mabin and Joe Davis.   Through 25 years of work with Custom Engineering, the University of Nebraska, the Nebraska Department of Transportation, JEM Engineering, Valmont Industries, and Ameron Pole Products, Mr. Mabin established himself as a national expert in structural design for highway signage and lighting.

Joe Davis joined Custom Engineering in 1999, building on Mabin’s success by refocusing the company’s operations on its key areas of expertise, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and lighting design, and incorporating new service dimensions of building information modeling (BIM), sustainable design, and integrated project delivery (IPD).  By setting a goal of being the best mechanical, electrical, and plumbing firm nationwide, Mr. Davis has positioned Custom Engineering for future growth.
