Custom Engineering is providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for an expansion of a senior living facility in the northern part of Kansas City, Missouri. The expansion consists of a two-story 87,000-square-foot, 96-bed facility that will provide short-term rehabilitation services, long-term skilled nursing care and memory care. The new building is being built immediately north of the existing McCrite Plaza facility.

The electrical engineering design included the lighting and power design for individual studio units, common areas, and four kitchen areas. Custom Engineering also provided the design for the nurse call system and fire alarm system for the entire facility. 

The mechanical engineering design included HVAC and plumbing design for studio resident units, common areas and four kitchen areas. Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning included a 120-ton VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system and a 30-ton dedicated outdoor air system. VRF technology is energy efficient, flexible, and provides excellent control over thermal comfort.
